An urgent appeal for funds for Ecuador has been launched by the Malta Red Cross.
Malta Ted Cross Ecuador Appeal
Earthquake-stricken Ecuador faced the grim reality of recovering more bodies than survivors, as rescue efforts moved into the third day, and the death toll climbed to 400. More than 800 Ecuadorian Red Cross volunteers have been engaged in search and rescue operations and the provision of first aid services.

In the port city of Manta, a group of about fifty rescuers working with sniffer dogs, hydraulic jacks and a drill, managed to free eight people trapped for more than thirty-two hours in the rubble of a shopping center that was flattened by Saturday night's quake.

A National Disaster Response Team has been deployed to carry out a rapid assessment of the humanitarian needs following the earthquake.

The Malta Red Cross is appealing for funds to support this operation.
